Fowler White Burnett Hires Immigration Law Attorney Richard J. Block

Miami, FL – In a move to expand the firm’s immigration law practice, Fowler White Burnett has hired attorney Richard J. Block.

Block has been focusing his practice on business immigration law for the past sixteen years. He advises foreign nationals seeking to work in the United States, in addition to foreign investors, and domestic and international companies who wish to hire the most highly skilled individuals from around the world. Specialties include obtaining E-1 and E-2 visas, H-1B visas, L-1A and L-1B visas, O visas, TN visas, consular processing, employment-based immigrant visas in all different categories and naturalization.

He represents corporations in a broad range of industries and individuals before the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Labor in connection with obtaining both temporary work visas and permanent residence. He also counsels clients on compliance with ever-changing employment laws regarding foreign workers, including I-9 training and audits.

Block, who is fluent in spoken Japanese, also served as General Counsel for Nissin Foods (U.S.A.) Co., Inc., a subsidiary of Nissin Foods Holdings Co., Ltd., a large multi-national corporation based in Tokyo, Japan with worldwide operations. During his tenure with Nissin Foods, he handled all immigration matters involving the transfer of Japanese nationals from the parent company to the U.S.

He has been invited to speak on business immigration issues by professional organizations such as the Society of Human Resources Management — Danbury Chapter, Connecticut Association of School Personnel Administrators and the Association of Corporate Counsel — New Jersey and Westchester /Connecticut chapters.

Block is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and is admitted to practice in New York, Washington, D.C. and New Jersey.

He received his J.D. from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center and a B.A. in Political Science from the State University of New York at New Paltz.
