Fowler White Burnett Announces Deborah R. Mayo as Shareholder at Miami Office

Fowler White Burnett P.A. is pleased to announce that attorney Deborah R. Mayo has joined the firm as a shareholder. She will be based in its Miami office where she will focus primarily on transactional work.

Mayo's experience includes the structuring of real estate joint ventures, private securities offerings, real estate fund formation, mergers and acquisitions, cross-border transactions and complex organizational restructurings. In addition, Mayo has legal experience in tax matters and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). She worked as a senior manager in tax services for Deloitte & Touche LLP before beginning her legal career. 

Mayo was most recently a partner with the Miami office of Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod LLP where she was a member of the firm's Corporate & Securities Practice Group and Chairwoman of the firm's Women's Initiative. Mayo is a member of the 2008-2009 Board of Directors of the Miami-Dade County Chapter of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants ("FICPA"). In addition, Mayo serves on the FICPA's statewide membership committee and statewide chapter operations committee. Mayo is also a member of the Florida Bar Association's Tax Section and Business Law Section. 

Mayo has been designated Fowler White Burnett's Trustee Representative to the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, where she has served in numerous leadership roles over the past several years including the Chamber's Board of Governors and Group Chair for International Economic Development. Mayo is a graduate of Leadership Miami, where she has served as a committee chair. 

Mayo's previous charitable involvement includes serving on the Executive Committee of the Salvation Army of Dade County, for which she received an Outstanding Volunteerism Award, and being appointed committee chairwoman for various committees of the Junior League of Miami. 

Mayo received her bachelor's degree from Florida State University, and her law degree from the University of Florida College of Law. She also received an LL.M. in Taxation and an MBA from the University of Miami.
