Peter Melaragno is a Shareholder in the firm's Products Liability & Toxic Torts Group and has been with the firm for 15 years. During that time, Peter has defended numerous clients involved in Florida's statewide asbestos litigation, both in state and federal court, including manufacturers and suppliers of construction products, electrical products, automotive friction products, and shipboard and industrial equipment. In addition, Peter has defended clients against claims alleging exposure to talc, silica, benzene, formaldehyde, and mold.
Peter focuses his practice on toxic tort litigation, representing manufacturers, distributors, retailers and insurers in the defense of claims that arise from alleged exposure to hazardous materials. Peter's experience enables him to effectively litigate high-exposure cases involving personal injury and wrongful death claims based on theories of strict product liability and negligent failure to warn. He handles cases from receipt of complaint to case resolution, including preparation for and participation in trial. He has developed extensive experience with deposing toxic tort plaintiffs and other fact witnesses including co-workers, treating physicians, and corporate representatives, as well as expert witnesses.
Peter attended the University of Florida and obtained a B.S. in Business Administration (Finance) in 1995, and obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida in 1998.
