The Admiralty and Maritime Group is one of the largest and most established in the southeastern United States. The group has lawyers who are fully bilingual in English and Spanish and we routinely are involved in maritime claims throughout the hemisphere.
Fowler White has the experience and resources to represent cruise, commercial and pleasure vessel owners, operators and charterers, shippers, consignees, marina operators, terminal operators and related marine interests and their insurers or indemnitors. Fowler White represents clients in connection with liability, protection and indemnity, and hull and cargo claims, as well as claims involving bunkers, cargo damage, charter parties, collisions, fire, liens, natural resource damage, personal injuries (including crew, longshore and passenger claims), pollution, product liability, occupational diseases, salvage, stowaways, wreck removal, wrongful death and administrative matters involving federal, state and local governmental agencies such as Coast Guard, Customs, Immigration, the Federal Maritime Commission, the National Transportation Safety Board and the Florida Department of Natural Resources. The Admiralty and Maritime Group is involved in vessel purchases, sales, charters, contract disputes, employment disputes, insurance coverage, surety contracts, debt collection and brokerage commissions. Fowler White regularly handles trials, arbitrations, mediations, administrative proceedings and appeals in all courts, state and federal. The Admiralty and Maritime Group drafts bills of lading, contracts of carriage for passengers, service contracts, terminal agreements and general commercial agreements.
The maritime contingent in the Environmental Group has for several decades been involved in the defense of claims against vessel owners, operators and insurers for oil spills, waste or hazardous discharges and damage to natural resources such as coral reefs, sea grass, and mangroves.
