Fowler White Burnett Attorney Howard E. Fox to Speak on Environmental Enforcement at National Environmental Conference

MIAMI, FLA - Fowler White Burnett environmental attorney Howard E. Fox is set to speak at the 2014 annual conference for the National Association of Environmental Professionals (NAEP) held April 7-10 in St. Petersburg, Florida. The conference brings together hundreds of public and private sector environmental professionals from across the country. Mr. Fox’s presentation is titled The Current State of Environmental Enforcement with a Focus on Florida, which will touch on the enforcement process, the differences between federal, state and local enforcement, as well as enforcement trends over the past few years.

“So much of the work environmental professionals do is related to enforcement. Yet environmental enforcement is such an intricate, changing area that it can be hard to keep up with the process and latest trends, especially for non-lawyers” says Mr. Fox.  “My presentation is intended to help environmental professionals understand the significance of environmental enforcement and how it affects them.”

Mr. Fox’s broad-based environmental practice encompasses environmental and land use litigation, regulation and transactions, as well as toxic torts and product liability. In each of these areas, his experience working in the state and federal government enables him to deploy effective, cost-efficient strategies to achieve his clients’ goals. He frequently represents publicly-traded companies, including global manufacturers, distributors and power companies. Mr. Fox has successfully represented clients in trials, depositions, hearings, mediation, motion practice and settlement negotiations. Over his career, Mr. Fox has handled cases against nearly every large environmental law practice in Florida.

Fowler White Burnett’s Environmental and Land Use Practice Group, headed by  Edward J. Briscoe and Howard E. Fox, works on behalf of numerous clients to obtain government approvals and maintain regulatory compliance for projects and facilities of all types - including industrial and manufacturing facilities; residential, commercial and mixed-use developments; oil and gas projects, refineries, renewable energy projects; infrastructure such as highways, ports, airports, and transit; schools, hospitals and research & development facilities; water systems and flood control projects; solid waste, composting, and recycling facilities; and telecommunications and utility projects.

The Firm's environmental cases involve a wide range of environmental laws, including those governing air emissions and climate change; water quality and supply; wetlands, mangroves and endangered species; development within a coastal zone; development on state and federal lands; toxic and hazardous substances; environmental investigations and remediation; and energy development.
