For more than 30 years, Jan Kuylenstierna has been involved in the maritime industry, specifically with ocean cargo and shipping. His practice involves the representation of steamship lines, marinas, boatyards, ship repair facilities, boat manufacturers, freight forwarders, and boats and marine retailers throughout the U.S. and Europe. Jan also serves as a correspondent to many Protection and Indemnity Clubs.
Jan has extensive experience representing domestic insurers and United Kingdom-based underwriters in coverage-related disputes and litigation concerning cargo damage, environmental claims, collision and wrongful death. His previous business experience in shipping provides Jan with valuable insight into the defense of cargo claims.
He is frequently involved in litigation and arbitration proceedings around the world. Jan also practices before regulatory agencies, including the Federal Maritime Commission, the Occupational and Safety Health Administration (OSHA) and the U.S. Coast Guard.
In addition to his maritime practice, Jan defends business entities and individuals engaged in litigation relating to non-maritime personal injury, product liability and property damage.
