A civil litigator with more than 10 years of experience, Ricardo Cabrera focuses his practice on aviation and maritime claims involving catastrophic injury, wrongful death, negligence and product liability.
Ricardo is an FAA-licensed pilot and former flight engineer, and airframe and power plant technician with more than 15 years of military and commercial aviation experience. Ricardo has completed the course on Aircraft Accident Investigation at the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Training Center. He combines this practical industry experience and technical proficiency with his legal knowledge to skillfully defend clients in aviation suits.
Ricardo represents foreign and domestic aviation clients in litigation that results from mass disasters and aircraft accidents, both throughout the U.S. and internationally. With other members of the Aviation Group, he represents major airline carriers, such as TAM Airlines, Bahamasair and LAN Airlines. Ricardo also represents other aircraft operators, aircraft manufacturers and aviation maintenance providers, including FAA-certified repair stations, fixed base operators and ground handlers.
Ricardo guides clients from the accident investigation process through trial or settlement discussions. He has specific experience with the complex issues that arise in aviation litigation, such as service of process, jurisdiction, forum non conveniens and discovery abroad.
In the maritime arena, Ricardo represents cruise lines, vessel owners, marine product manufacturers and their insurers in maritime claims, including cases involving the Jones Act, the Death on the High Seas Act (DOHSA) and cargo loss.
